What we do
Open Doors provides counselling and support services for lesbian, gay, bisexual and/or transgender (LGBT) young people aged 12 to 24 and their families who live in South East Queensland.
Open Doors will also work with service providers and communities in the South East Queensland region -
Open Doors is open from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm Monday to Friday. We accept referrals from young people, families, friends, schools and
other services.
The support we provide includes:
- Reconnect Program
- Drop-In (12 to 18)
- Young and Proud (18 – 24)
- Jellybeans (transgender young people)
Support for families
We provide support to family members to assist them to support and have healthy relationships with their children. Where a parent or a young person requests, we will provide mediation between family members to assist communication and in the resolution of current conflicts.
Community education and training
Alongside the direct support and information provided to young people and families, Open Doors also aims to enhance or create networks of support for young LGBT communities across South East Queensland.
