OUR COMMITMENT:
Open Doors Youth Service is committed to being a child safe organisation where the safety, wellbeing and dignity of children and young people come first, always.
We believe every child and young person has the right to feel safe, respected and supported. Protecting children from harm is central to who we are and how we work, and this responsibility sits with everyone across our organisation.
We take a proactive approach to child safety by creating safe environments, building trusted relationships, and ensuring our programs and services are delivered with care, oversight and accountability. All staff, volunteers and contractors are carefully screened, trained and supported to uphold child safe practices and to act in the best interests of children and young people at all times.
Open Doors Youth Service encourages children and young people to speak up if something doesn’t feel right. We are committed to listening, responding appropriately, and taking action whenever concerns are raised. Any risks or concerns about a child’s safety are treated seriously and responded to promptly in line with legal and ethical responsibilities.
We are committed to ongoing learning, reflection and improvement to strengthen our child safe practices. By embedding child safety into our leadership, culture and daily work, we aim to ensure children and young people feel safe, heard and supported when engaging with our services.
