Donating to our programs

Many of the services we provide do not receive any government funding and rely on donations and fundraising to continue.

All donations made to Open Doors Youth Service go towards helping us deliver services and support to LGBTIQAP+  young people.  You can let us know which program or service you would like your donation to go.

One of our programs that we would greatly appreciate donations for currently is our PRIDE Art Therapy program.  This is one of our most popular, beneficial and loved groups by our young people and it currently relies fundraising and donations to continue.  We are in the process of applying for grants to keep this program running at Open Doors Youth Service.  To read more about this program – see below.

PRIDE Art Therapy

The PRIDE Art Therapy program launched in 2017 with Open Doors Youth Service is the first of its kind. The purpose of the project is to support LGBTIQAP+ Sistergirl and Brotherboy young people between the ages of 12-24 and their mental health and wellbeing, encouraging them to live healthy empowered lives through connecting them to community and culture through the use of artistic activities and exercises. The program encourages young people to express themselves in healthy, safe ways.

This ground-breaking program is run weekly over 10 Organisations around South East Queensland to over 70+ young people. In total the program has supported over 1600 young people over 12 months and has proven to be one of the most successful programs run at Open Doors Youth Service.  Unfortunately funding for this program has ceased (and the Mental Health Commission is unable to fund the same program twice) so we would love to keep it going.  If you’d like to give our LGBTIQAP+ Brotherboy and Sistergirl young people the valuable opportunity to improve mental health and wellbeing, ultimately assisting connection with their peers and community through our incredible Creative Arts Therapy Program, please consider a donation to continue this important work.

Fundraising

If you would like to fundraise for Open Doors Youth Service through a community event or event at your workplace we support this 100%.  Whether it raises money or not, the most important thing is that it may raise awareness of the work we do, people may learn of a service that could help a loved one and above all, any support for our young people is greatly appreciated.   You can contact us at opendoors@opendoors.net.au if you would like to request a copy of our logo or any other information you may require for your fundraising – just let us know what you’re doing.  Also, don’t forget to tag us on social media so we can see the amazing work and wonderful events happening!

Everyday Hero

We have recently signed up to the Everyday Hero platform where you can nominate Open Doors Youth Service as your chosen charity organisation to fundraise money for through your events such as triathlons, Bridge to Brisbane and so many more.  Check out the website!

Containers For Change

We have recently signed up to the Containers For Change scheme.  If you have joined the rest of us in taking part in recycling and helping save the environment whilst supporting a worthy cause such as Open Doors, you’ll love this!  We have small households to workplaces to schools getting involved to collect their eligible containers and we are so excited to watch this unfold.  The bonus; Mother Earth will be so grateful!  It’s a really fun and interactive way to see how making small changes such as recycling correctly can impact the environment so positively.  When depositing containers – select Open Doors Youth Service or enter our Scheme ID (as per below) to support our service!
